How to Restream to YouTube, Twitch and TikTok at the Same Time

· Fast Monkey

Your audience is split across YouTube, Twitch, Instagram and TikTok. Running a separate encoder for each one wastes bandwidth and makes every live harder to manage. Restreaming, also called multistreaming, solves this: you send one signal and it is delivered to every destination at once.

How restreaming works

Your production tool (OBS, vMix or a hardware encoder) sends a single stream to a restreaming server. The server copies that stream to each platform using RTMP or RTMPS, the protocols social platforms accept for live ingest. Your upload bandwidth is used once, no matter how many destinations you add.

What you need from each platform

  • YouTube: a stream URL and stream key from YouTube Studio.
  • Twitch: the ingest server and the stream key from your creator dashboard.
  • Instagram and TikTok: an RTMPS URL and stream key, available to accounts that have access to streaming from an external encoder.
  • Any other RTMP destination: the server URL and key provided by the platform.

Tips for a stable multistream

  • Use a wired connection and keep a margin above your stream bitrate.
  • Choose a resolution and bitrate every destination accepts.
  • Test each destination privately before announcing the live.
  • Watch each platform's health indicator during the first minutes.

Go beyond reach: add monetizable outputs

Social platforms bring reach, but you depend on their monetization rules. Fast Monkey Creator streams once to YouTube, Twitch, Instagram, TikTok and other RTMP destinations and, at the same time, delivers two SRT outputs with SCTE-35 ad markers for FAST platforms and ad partners. When the live ends, a 24/7 schedule from your video library keeps the channel on air.
